Carmen Alvarez (1967) has been a member of the Board of Directors of zCapital since 2018.

Since 2021, she has been the owner and co-managing director of Alemania Deutschsprachschule AG. Previously, she was responsible for venture capital at AMAG's Innovation & Venture LAB and Head Business Development and Member of the Executive Board at Oerlikon Surface Solutions. She was active in corporate finance at Leonardo & Co, Sal. Oppenheim, Ernst & Young and UBS for over 20 years. During this time, she has successfully handled numerous M&A and capital market transactions for both SMEs and listed companies.

Carmen Alvarez is Chairman of the Board of SmartEm Holding AG and Alemania Deutschsprachschule AG.

She holds a degree in economics (lic.oec.publ.) from the University of Zurich, specializing in corporate management, finance and banking, and she also holds a VR-CAS certificate from the University of St. Gallen. She is the mother of two adult children.
